Sargneti Estate Vineyard
Sargenti Vineyard is located on the northern edge of the Santa Lucia Highlands to the west of River Road. The Sargenti grows 3 acres of grapes annually. This property is where De Tierra sources some of its Sargenti Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The soil at Sargenti Estate Vineyard is light loam, which means that the soil is highly workable, has high water content, yet drains well. This makes the Sargenti vineyard ideal for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The climate at Sargenti is very similar to that of the Santa Lucia Highlands: foggy in the morning and afternoon, warm during the day, and cold during the night. There is also a strong wind factor up and down the Salinas Valley. The wind begins to blow stronger in the early afternoon into the evening, causing the plants to create thicker skins to protect themselves, creating a stronger and more complex flavor in the wines.
